A recognized Swiss watchmaking maison

The opportunity

Today we are bringing to market a strong opportunity with a highly recognized Swiss watchmaking maison, for its SoHo salon. The house has a long heritage, a serious collector following, and a downtown address it chose deliberately — the room is polished but unintimidating, and a good part of the business still walks in off the street.

The client base is genuinely mixed, and that is the interesting part of this job. In one afternoon you might take a founder through a perpetual calendar he has been reading about for six months, help a couple choose a pair of watches for a wedding, and spend forty minutes with someone who walked in knowing nothing and simply liked the look of a dial. A collector will test you on finishing and provenance. The next person will ask why it costs what it costs. Both deserve the same hour. We are looking for someone with three to five years behind a luxury counter who has kept their curiosity intact — someone who can put down the vocabulary when it is not helping, read what a client actually came in for, and let a sale take the two or three visits it needs. Patience here is a commercial skill, not a personality trait. You will build your own client book, and you will be judged on whether those people come back.

What you will be responsible for

  • Sell across the collection, from entry references to the high-complication pieces
  • Take clients through movements, complications, and heritage — in the language they arrive with
  • Grow a personal client book through follow-up, private appointments, and referral
  • Handle waitlists, reservations, and the after-sales conversation with care
  • Keep client records accurate and useful, not just complete
  • Host and work in-boutique launches, collector evenings, and neighborhood events
  • Maintain case presentation, daily stock counts, and floor standards

What we are looking for

  • Three to five years selling luxury — watches, fine jewelry, or another considered-purchase category
  • A real client book, and the follow-up discipline that built it
  • Genuine interest in watchmaking, with the confidence to know when not to use it
  • Comfortable with a long sale and an unhurried close
  • Warm, present, and approachable — this floor sees a lot of first-time visitors
  • Additional languages welcome; the clientele is international
  • Weekend and event-evening availability

What the opportunity offers

  • Uncapped commission on a floor with real walk-in volume
  • Serious brand training on movement technology and house history
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and staff purchase
  • A well-established house downtown, and room to build a book that is yours
